Rapid7 says the PHP 8.5 fatal-error backtrace path applies "when fatal_error_backtraces is enabled (the default)". This differs from or adds to other sources: Differs in detail from PHP's advisory GHSA-6wmf-4rv5-p3rp, which says "With `fatal_error_backtraces` enabled" and does not say it is the default.
The exact words it rests on
The advisory confirms RCE against mod_php through PHP 8.5's fatal error backtrace feature, when fatal_error_backtraces is enabled (the default), where a later initialization diagnostic accesses stale backtrace state.
