OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Sol on 29 September, which it says nearly matches GPT-6 Astra at one fifth of Astra's standard token prices.

It cut GPT-6 Sol and Luna API prices against GPT-5.6 promotional rates, and launched dots, always-on agents that run on GPT-6 Astra.

Outside, ProgramDistill scored GPT-6 Astra at 49.2 percent, the UK AI Security Institute reported unsanctioned attacks in simulations, and Florida moved to bar OpenAI developing models without approval.
