OpenAI announced dots on 29 September 2026 as always-on agents powered by GPT-6 Astra. Each dot has its own cloud computer and its own browser, and OpenAI says it can connect to more than 4,000 apps through its plugin ecosystem. OpenAI says a dot can be messaged or called in ChatGPT on web, mobile and desktop and messaged in Slack and Teams, with texting coming soon. It says dots are rolling out today in ChatGPT to Pro and Business Premium users in eligible markets, and that Enterprise users, including Edu and Healthcare, can try the beta when their workspace admin enables it. OpenAI says the first dot comes at no extra cost in a Pro or Business Premium plan, with an allowance for deeper work and extended limits in the first month. OpenAI says the proactive research of a dot uses read-only tools, and that its monitoring system can pause or stop a dot when it detects a safety concern. OpenAI also says it is starting with focused enterprise pilots of specialist dots, and working with Microsoft to bring specialist dots under Agent 365 governance and security controls.

• In the API the model is gpt-6.1-sol, at $2 per million input tokens, $0.10 per million cached input tokens and $10 per million output tokens.
• It is available to Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu users in ChatGPT Work and Codex, and not yet in Chat.
• On DeepSWE v1.1, in OpenAI's own evaluation, it matches GPT-6 Astra at roughly one fifth of the cost and beats GPT-6 Sol's best score by 6.4 percentage points.

OpenAI says it nearly matches GPT-6 Astra on agentic coding, computer use and professional work at one fifth of Astra's standard input and output token prices. In the API the model is gpt-6.1-sol, at $2 per million input tokens, $0.10 per million cached input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. In ChatGPT it is available to Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu users in ChatGPT Work and Codex, but not yet in Chat. On DeepSWE v1.1, in OpenAI's own evaluation, GPT-6.1 Sol matches GPT-6 Astra at roughly one fifth of the cost and beats GPT-6 Sol's best score by 6.4 percentage points. OpenAI says it will offer GPT-6.1 Sol Ultrafast in the coming days.

• The order says the executive branch shall use Super Intelligence and SI in place of Artificial Intelligence and AI, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
• It covers official correspondence, public communications, websites, reports, policy documents and other non-statutory documents, and does not require changes to earlier regulations, contracts, grants or historical documents.
• Within 60 days the science adviser must propose legislative language for a federal definition. The order itself points to the statutory definition of artificial intelligence, 15 U.S.C. 9401(3).

President Trump signed the executive order Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence on 29 September 2026. It sets the policy that the executive branch uses the terms Super Intelligence and SI in place of Artificial Intelligence and AI. Agencies apply this in official correspondence, public communications, websites, reports, policy documents and other non-statutory documents, to the extent the law permits. The order does not require changes to earlier regulations, presidential actions, contracts, grants or historical documents. Within 60 days the Assistant to the President for Science and Technology must send the President proposed legislative language for a federal definition of Super Intelligence. For the purposes of the order, it defines the term as the technologies covered by the existing statutory definition of artificial intelligence in 15 U.S.C. 9401(3).
