What is Google Gemini?

Gemini is the name Google uses for its AI models and for an app. Google's developer documentation says the Gemini API lets developers build Gemini and other generative models into applications to generate text and images, analyze multimodal inputs and build conversational agents. Google DeepMind's page for the models also lists a Gemini app, where you can chat with Gemini.

Google DeepMind's Gemini page lists Gemini for building intelligent agents and Gemini Audio for talking, creating and controlling audio. Google's developer documentation describes the Gemini API as a way to use Gemini and other generative models, such as Veo and Nano Banana, in applications. Google's SynthID page says an image, video or audio clip can be uploaded to Gemini to check it for a SynthID watermark.
