SpaceX's earnings release, furnished with an 8-K on 20 October 2026, says its Super Intelligence (SI) segment, formerly reported as AI, had revenues of $7.6 billion in the quarter to 30 September.

SpaceX reports $14.6 billion third-quarter revenue and a profit

  • SpaceX reported revenue of $14.6 billion, up 161% from $5.6 billion, and net income of $4.4 billion, against a net loss of $1.1 billion in the prior-year quarter.
  • SpaceX says revenues of its Super Intelligence (SI) segment were $7.6 billion, up 830% year-over-year, attributed to new cloud services agreements, the acquisition of Cursor and increased Grok adoption.
  • Nameplate compute reached 1.7 GW as of 30 September 2026, up from 1.4 GW on 30 June 2026 and 0.6 GW on 30 September 2025.

SpaceX furnished its earnings release, Exhibit 99.1 to a Form 8-K filed with the SEC on 20 October 2026, reporting results for the quarter ended 30 September 2026. SpaceX reported revenues of $14.6 billion, up 161% from $5.6 billion, and net income of $4.4 billion, against a net loss of $1.1 billion in the prior-year quarter. SpaceX says revenues of its Super Intelligence (SI) segment, which it previously reported as Artificial Intelligence, were $7.6 billion, up 830% year-over-year, which it attributes to new cloud services agreements, the acquisition of Cursor and increased Grok adoption. SpaceX says it completed its acquisition of Cursor on 14 August 2026, based on an implied equity value of $60 billion. Nameplate compute reached 1.7 GW as of 30 September 2026, up from 1.4 GW on 30 June 2026 and 0.6 GW on 30 September 2025.

What it means for you Our view

These are SpaceX's own figures, from its earnings release, and the reasons given for the Super Intelligence (SI) segment's growth are SpaceX's attribution. Of the $14.6 billion in revenue, SpaceX reports $7.6 billion from SI, and it names cloud services agreements, the Cursor acquisition and Grok adoption as the causes. For anyone buying AI services, the release shows a supplier whose nameplate compute has grown from 0.6 GW to 1.7 GW in a year. A nameplate figure alone does not tell you what capacity is available to a customer. If you evaluate Grok, Cursor or SpaceX's cloud services, ask the vendor which capacity and pricing terms would apply to your contract.

Google chief Pichai says frontier compute is non-negotiable

  • Pichai says "the first principles we operate on is to making sure we have enough compute to invest in the frontier. And that's non-negotiable" (17:13).
  • Pichai says "the compute we have today is a function of decisions I made in 2024" (17:36).
  • On 2027 demand, Pichai says: "if today a customer is coming out and asking us for compute in uh 27 that is uh incredibly difficult to do" (19:11).

Alex Kantrowitz interviewed Sundar Pichai for Big Technology; the video was published on 20 October 2026. Asked how he balances compute between cloud and AI research, Pichai said making sure there is enough compute for the frontier is the first principle and that everything else works on top of that. He also said today's compute reflects decisions made in 2024, and that a customer asking for compute in 2027 is asking for something very difficult. On data centres in space he said Google is two to three years into the journey and expects a first signal from TPUs sent to orbit.

What it means for you Our view

These are Pichai's views in an interview, not a commitment from Google to its customers. He describes frontier compute as the first call on Google's capacity and says today's capacity reflects decisions taken in 2024. Read with his remark that a customer asking for compute in 2027 is asking for something very difficult, it suggests that Google plans capacity years ahead and that late requests may be hard to meet. If you plan to buy Google cloud AI capacity for 2027, raise it early with your account team and ask for written terms on capacity and on what happens to your allocation when demand is high.

Anthropic says 17 of 211 designed proteins bound scorpion toxins in tests

  • Claude selected 180 designs and the team added 31 more, 211 in total, aimed at five scorpion toxins: Cn2, Ts1, AaH I, AaH II and LqhIII.
  • 17 of the 211 designs met the criteria: 7 against Cn2, 4 against AaH II, 4 against AaH I and 2 against LqhIII, which was tested only at Adaptyv Bio.
  • Binding was tested only against recombinant toxins. No design was tested for neutralisation in cells or efficacy in living animals, and Anthropic does not claim an antivenom.

Anthropic asked an internal research model to design small proteins that bind scorpion neurotoxins. It selected 180 designs and the team added 31, 211 in all, and 17 met its binding criteria in lab tests at Adaptyv Bio and Twist Bioscience (LqhIII was tested only at Adaptyv Bio). Anthropic does not claim to have produced an antivenom, because it has not confirmed the binders neutralise venom in cells, and it has released all 211 designs with their data on Hugging Face.

What it means for you Our view

Anthropic describes a model-driven design process whose output was tested only for binding to recombinant toxins, at Adaptyv Bio and Twist Bioscience, with 17 of 211 designs meeting its criteria. Nothing was tested for neutralisation in cells or in animals, and Anthropic does not claim an antivenom, so the result shows a design workflow and not a treatment. Anthropic has released all 211 designs and their data on Hugging Face, which lets others examine the binding results. If your organisation works in protein design or biosecurity, download the dataset and check whether your own assays reproduce the hit rate before drawing conclusions.
